Emotional eating can leave one with an array of feelings, from frustrated and stuck to overwhelmed, trapped and helpless.  This need not be.  There are answers to help.

The truth is, our western civilization sets us up for failure and impending weight gain.  It doesn't surprise me at all that the majority of us have an issue with weight and/or over-eating during our life span.

The underlying issue with weight gain is simple, yet the effects of such issues have monumental effects.  For example, any time we eat when we are not physically hungry we gain weight.  Yet, eating when we are actually hungry is seen as absurd due to the notions of, "It is now breakfast time."  "It is now snack time."  "It is now lunch time." And so on and so forth.

When we eat without first experiencing a hunger signal from the stomach it is harder to feel full.  It can take up to 20 or 30 minutes!  In other words, when their is no "start", the stop becomes fuzzy.  No wonder the majority of us over-eat on a regular basis... we want satisfaction that isn't attainable.

When we eat when we are physically hungry there are many benefits.  Food tastes better.  We find the meal TRULY satisfying to the core.  We remain at a natural weight (or are on our way).  We can eat what we want (no dieting regimens are necessary any more).  Your metabolism remains at its peak.  And many more...

Being aware of when we are hungry is the first step in breaking free from over eating.  The second step is following this and setting up your life to support this.  I've heard my fair share of objections about how hard it must be to eat when hungry and I have yet to find one that holds true. 

People often ask me how to know if they need help (one-on-one) or if they can just read Fire Your Diet and succeed with the workbook alone.  In my experience, if you have a big emotional tie to food (ex: compulsive and emotional eating) it may be harder emotionally in the beginning to follow your hunger.  For me it was excruciating in the beginning.  This is a good time to get help beyond book work.
