Article:
A Feminine Perspective; A Balanced Worldview
I was at a gathering a while back and the topic of racism arose. Most people were of the contention that racism no longer exists or if it does it only exists within smaller subcultures. However, my friend that is “black” made the point that racism still exists at its most toxic level, the level of invisibility. There were many protests to this statement. The question then naturally arose (from my same friend) how would anyone know unless they have experienced it or live within the context to experience it.
I was considering how this is the same with feminism. It is so subtle that typically only a women can see it or experience it. Please don’t get me wrong! I’m the farthest thing from being a femi-nazi! I don’t even consider myself an official feminist actually. But, it can hardly be ignored that the majority of world leaders carry a masculine perspective.
How has this worked for us anyway? I’m not necessarily suggesting that this is exactly about male vs. female, but rather about masculine perspective and feminine perspectives. When any person, male or female, is well rounded with both sides of themselves then their approach and philosophies are naturally going to be sounder. Since the leaders of our world are predominately male the feminine perspective is lacking and has been for centuries.
Could this imbalance be what has precluded peace (world wide and within community), environmental balance and social justices?
What could the feminine perspective then add to our current worldview? How would our world have been different had the feminine perspective been cherished as equally important to equanimity? The masculine is more focused and compartmental in thinking, which is has its place and is highly valuable for creating pertinent distinctions. The feminine sees how things are inner-related as well as inter-related which is incredibly valuable for integration of knowledge and healing misperceptions. Both are invaluable and have their place.
Even a lot of our women have become very masculine in their thinking! This is sad to me. But what I see as sadder is when any person, male or female, becomes too engrossed in their way of thinking that it stagnates their personal growth and suffocates their humanity for others, spiritually and compassionately, personally and professionally.
Imagine
the power of a more balanced worldview!
